Push to GitHub
Put your website's code on GitHub, so it's backed up online with its full history and ready for Vercel to publish, and understand which files must never leave your laptop.
Why this matters
Right now, your whole website lives in one folder on one laptop. If that laptop is stolen, breaks or gets a coffee spilled on it, your website is gone.
GitHub fixes that. It keeps a copy of your project online, with every commit you've made, so you can always get it back, from any computer. It's also the bridge to going live: in the next lesson, Vercel will take your code from GitHub and put it on the internet. Every time you update GitHub after that, your live site updates by itself.
There's one more reason. Your GitHub profile becomes part of your portfolio. When someone wants to know whether you can really build, a GitHub page full of real projects with steady commits is quiet, honest proof.
