Databases and MCP, in plain English
Understand what a database is (tables, rows, columns and IDs), what MCP is (giving Cursor hands inside Supabase), and the five safety rules you'll follow every time you let the AI work in a database.
Why this matters
In Lesson 6.1, the database was "the order book on the shelf". In this module you'll build that order book for real. Before you do, you need two clear pictures: what the book looks like inside, and how Cursor is going to reach into it.
The first picture is easier than you think. If you've ever used a spreadsheet, you already understand most of a database. The second picture, MCP, is newer. It's the reason this course can teach databases to complete beginners at all: instead of learning a database language first, you'll describe what you want and Cursor will build it, inside Supabase, while you watch.
That power comes with responsibility. An AI with hands inside a database can also break things or expose things. So this lesson ends with five rules. They're short, and they're not optional. Professional developers follow the same ones.
