Goal

Create a free Vercel account by signing in with GitHub, understand what you're allowing Vercel to do, and find your way around the dashboard you'll use to launch your first website.

Why this matters

A website on your laptop is like a cake in your kitchen: lovely, but nobody else can taste it. Vercel is the service that takes your website and puts it on the internet, on a server that's always on, so anyone in the world can visit it.

You're connecting Vercel to GitHub today because that's how professionals work. Once they're connected, the process is automatic: you save your work to GitHub, and Vercel notices and updates your live website within a minute or two. No uploading files, no copying things to a server by hand.

In Module 3 you'll click one button and your first website will go live. Doing the setup today means that moment is about your website, not about creating accounts.
