Goal

Create a separate, professional Gmail address for all your web work, add recovery details, and turn on 2-Step Verification so nobody else can get in.

Why this matters

Almost every tool in this course lets you sign in with Google: ChatGPT, Vercel, and many more later. That makes your Google account the master key to your whole working life as a web developer. Whoever controls that one account can get into everything else.

That's why you're creating a new account, only for this work, instead of using the email you've had since school. A separate account keeps client emails away from family group chats and promotions. It looks professional when a business owner sees it on an invoice. And if your personal email is ever hacked, your web work stays safe, and the other way round.

You'll also turn on 2-Step Verification. This is the single most useful security habit you'll learn in this course. With it on, a stolen password alone isn't enough to get into your account.
