Install Node.js and Git
Install Node.js and Git on your laptop, check them yourself in a terminal, and tell Git who you are, using a private GitHub email address.
Why this matters
Every website you build in this course is a Next.js project. Next.js runs on Node.js. Without Node.js on your laptop, Cursor can write all the code in the world, but nothing will run: no preview, no "it works!", nothing to put online.
Git is the program that saves snapshots of your work (the "commits" from Lesson 1.2) and sends them to GitHub. Without Git, your work stays stuck on your laptop, and you can't undo your mistakes.
Today is also your first time in a terminal: the window where you type commands instead of clicking. You'll type five short commands, and each one will answer you. If the terminal looks scary, that's normal. In twenty minutes it won't.
